What I’m doing NOW

As of 21 Oct 2025…

  • Presently attending Auckland Startup Week as both a researcher for Kiwibank but also for me as it’s so inspiring and invorating being around people making smart things to solve hard problems!
  • Flying down to Christchurch next week to meet a bunch of other startups and small businesses for more continous discovery research (and then to spend time with some good friends in this favourite NZ city of mine).
  • I’m learning Korean again so I can finally start conversing with my Korean wife and her/my family at the dinner table.
  • I’m intent on getting a 10km daily walking average on my Fitbit for 2025 and I’m currently tracking at 9.97km per day avg so I can’t quit now!
  • Sharing what I can in my Substack notes, replies, and Then It Clicked! publication in hopes that it’ll bring someone a new perspective to consider and maybe a little more peace.
    • I’ve started a new digital photo album specifically for screenshots where people have said (sometimes literally), “That was actually helpful. Thanks Geoff!” It gives me all the warm fuzzies that make me feel like I’m doing something right with my life.
    • I’m also a little shamefully focusing more on Substack right now solely because I know I haven’t fixed up how my blogs appear on here after porting them all over from my old Squarespace site.
  • Moving my Formula Fast Track (2025) e-course over to YouTube to help get you up to speed with Formula 1—fast… and now for free!
  • Reading so many interesting books this year and loving it (see below)
  • Doing a little go-karting with my nephew to feel a little bit of that ‘F1’ rush.

What I recently FINISHED

  • Submitting my US federal tax return with days to spare on my foreign residence extension and saving myself $ on an accountant by decoding dozens of tax form pages myself… urgh.
  • Voting in my local New Zealand elections and posting my USA midterm ballot in the mail!
  • A guest appearance on the BearTalk podcast on why curiosity is the real superpower for designers & creators
  • A digital-free weekend at Wild Ridge NZ near Wellsford which I highly recommend. The host has a great record collection and sound system inside and outside his cabin on this mountain top; it’s the perfect little getaway.

What I’m likely doing NEXT

  • Getting this WordPress site finallyyyyyy looking un-janky after my SquareSpace content port over to here.
  • Retroactively adding Blog posts for my various guest appearances
  • Merging my 2010 “For Better GENiUS” comedy-philosophy blog into here

🔖 This page exists to see the ‘big picture’ of what I’m preoccupying myself with now (and why you’ve probably heard me saying ‘No’ to more things haha).

Thanks, Derek for the nownownow inspiration!
