What I’m doing NOW
As of 3 Dec 2025…
- Spending time around family and proving that remote work is possible in the process
- Seeing what networking and mentorship pathways I could help setup for Grid AKL, Startup Aoteroa, and the Ministry of Awesome
- Learning Korean again to understand my in-laws
- Walking 10km per day on average to close out a 2025 goal
- Sharing new perspectives and experimental lessons I’ve learnt for a less busy, more fulfilling life through my Then It Clicked! Substack publication
- I’ve got a new digital photo album now specifically for all of the replies I get where people have said (sometimes literally), “That was actually helpful. Thanks Geoff!” — it gives me all the warm fuzzies inside
- Reading so many interesting books this year and loving it (see below)
You can tell that what I’m not actively doing is redesigning this WordPress site and updating the blog here with what I’m currently publishing via Substack. I am in no rush; my energy and attention is going where it needs to go.
What I recently FINISHED
- Giving a fun and lively 45min talk to DDB Group Aotearoa’s design team on turning busy into better! 🥳
- My fourth guest appearance on Ruddle Me This! with Taylor Ruddle to discuss the “cost of greatness” as seen through A Star Is Born (2018)
- Attending Auckland Startup Week for work followed by a business trip to Christchurch to learn what startup founders in the Ministry of Awesome programmes need to get to their next stage
- Decoding the US Federal Tax system to save myself $$$ in submitting my own return (and frankly, doing a better job of it than the accountants I had previously used for years)
- My first guest appearance on the BearTalk podcast on why curiosity is the real superpower for designers & creators
- A digital-free weekend at Wild Ridge NZ near Wellsford which I highly recommend. The host has a great record collection and sound system inside and outside his cabin on this mountain top; it’s the perfect little getaway.

What may be up NEXT

- Retroactively adding Blog posts for my various guest appearances
- Merging my 2010 “For Better GENiUS” comedy-philosophy blog into here
Key memory dividends
from the past year…
