WALK & TALK WITH GEOFF WILSON | EP.3 — Unpacking 40 years of time blindness to find another way

Do you regularly find yourself sprinting out of your house half-dressed to get to your bus or an appointment on time like I do? Do your work meetings tend to start one minute after the hour rather than one minute before? Are you the one causing this or is it someone like me in your team? Sorry! I’m working on it 😝.

I have lived that rushed, “I’ve still got time!” life for so long that I adjusted to it rather than changing it. But, thanks to a late-stage ADHD diagnosis a few years back, I’ve got a whole new toolbox of tips and tricks I’ve been testing to flip the script.

▶️ What we’re exploring in today’s Walk & Talk audio log:

  • Getting into your car and joining a meeting takes longer than you think, and I didn’t know that was the problem until I started timing myself
  • When I stop treating being ahead of schedule like I’ve got free time to do “just one more thing”, I actually show up on time. Wild!
  • How being late for my ADHD diagnosis told the psychiatrist everything they needed to know

New to the show? Welcome to Walk and Talk with Geoff Wilson: a new audio log of unedited thoughts and on-the-move reflections about the internal struggles, mindful motivations, and tiny joys in our everyday lives. Expect each of these podcast episodes to be of indeterminant length, frequency, guests, and heavy breathing as I ruminate aloud while covering a kilometre or two of the hilliest hills in my neighbourhood.

Put on your headphones and shoes, then come along for a walk with me! 👟🎧
